A meeting to launch the first report of the ESRC funded ‘Precarious Trajectories’ research project on the Mediterranean migration crisis.

One year after two successive shipwrecks that occurred while migrants were being rescued and led to the death of more than 1200 people, the report mobilizes cutting edge spatial analysis technologies to shed new light on the conditions that led to these tragedies. It focuses in particular on the responsibility of EU agencies and policy makers, demonstrating that through their policy of non-assistance they knowingly created the conditions that led to massive loss of life in these cases of death by rescue.
